A mixed weekend: Day 6 & 7
I knew the weekends would be the most challenging part of phase one. So it was all about setting expectations that I could live with. I am a huge college football fan, and in spite of the fact that my team is struggling this season— I had to cheer them on. I can’t watch football with a salad- that’s weird.
To combat the wings I knew I would be having on Saturday night, I did my first hard work out for the week with a front-row seat at Soul-Cycle. I am feeling the burn even as a type this. The Maker’s diet calls for easy workouts during the first week. It also calls for partial fast days once a week— which I am doing today.
Starting Thurs, I will be in Nashville, home of fried chicken and BBQ and the Taylor Swift concert. I’ve had this trip planned for months, so I will have both the chicken and BBQ, but I will also be working out this week every day— have to.
Here are the menus for the weekend.
Mixed berry smoothie with coconut milk and almond butter
Breakfast 2- 11am
Egg scrambled with spinach, and onions
All-natural turkey bacon (Applegate brand)
Snack- 2pm after my Soul-Cycle class
Pure Energy juice from Juice Generation- spinach, kale, carrots, cucumber, celery and wheatgrass.
Very Late Lunch-4pm
Bun-less Angus Beef burgers with goat cheese and sauté onions and mushrooms.
Recipe: 90% lean angus beef marinated with pepper, minced onion and garlic, oregano, basil, one egg, and a tiny little pinch of salt. Make the patty and put a little crumble goat cheese and re-make the patty. Cook in a non-stick pan.
The sauté onions and mushrooms are easy, just sliced the onions and cook them with minced garlic over medium heat in sesame oil. Add the mushrooms and a bit of soy sauce.
I served the patty medium to medium rare, over a romaine lettuce, and tomatoes. (Picture above)
A total disaster that included wings, Queso and Michelob Ultras. And my team lost, so it was bad.
Yay! I’ve made it one whole week eating healthy, down ~6lbs, and feeling good!
Since I had a pretty terrible dinner, I did a partial fast today. Consuming mostly liquids and going for a leisurely 1 mile walk through the park.
9am Berry smoothie- recipe above
Noon- coconut water smoothie with acai, and raspberries from juice generation- it has 14g of protein!!
2pm- a small garden salad that my partner in crime made.
5pm- berry smoothie
Dinner will be chicken with zucchini in tomato sauce.
I have forgotten to mention that throughout the week, I have been drinking probably a gallon of water a day. Today I drank even more than that.
Week one complete— I am feeling accomplished, and proud. Yeah!
